SABERS - Paul's Biggles, Bikes and Biplanes Run
Saturday 05 April 2014, 09:00
by David Burne

An aeronautical theme, hosted by Rides Coordinator Paul W.

Meet at Caltex O’Halloran Hill at 9am for a 9.30 start.

We will proceed indirectly to the Aldinga Airport for morning tea. This is a very pleasant spot, with a nice little cafe and with a bit of luck we will see an old biplane and some more modern small planes taking off and landing. This is about 60kms and 1 hour from the start.

We will then take a scenic route to The Garage Motorcycles at Strathalbyn for lunch, where petrol will be available as well. This will be 170 kms from the start point and we should be there about 1pm, depending on how long we spend at the airport.

For lunch, Marylou of Garage Motorcycles has offered to cook lunch on the barby for us at The Garage. She has done this for other clubs, most recently for the Moto Guzzi Frats, which by all reports went down rather well.

Lunch is a Maidments [ one of the local butchers ] special gourmet sausage on a roll with onion and a coffee or cool drink [ not counting Red Bull ] for $8. Apparently it is quite filling, they are a good size sausage. I am sure it will be possible to buy another one  if you are still hungry.  We will take numbers at the start of the ride to allow Mary Lou to privison suitable quantities of food.

They do the cooking, we do the eating and perving at bikes.

The Garage is having a Benelli Ride day that same day. If anyone is seriously thinking of buying a new bike they could take a Benelli for a test ride while they are there. They will need to make a booking in advance. Phone The Garage – 85362677. Check out their website Garage Motorcycles. It is one of the better ones with lots of detail about the Benelli range as well as the other bikes they sell, such as Moto Guzzi, Aprillia and Bimoto.

We could end the ride there, or for those who want more, we can ride on to a cafe at Mylor or Aldgate, depending on how we feel on the day.

Remember to start the ride with a full tank of fuel.
